Getting Down to Business: Thoughts for a New Year...

Columnist Donna Alward is back this month to talk about preparing for the year ahead... And planning.

Another year comes to a close and it's the time of year many of us look back on the past year and plan for the year ahead.

Each new year is a clean slate, chock full of opportunities and possibilities. It's a great feeling where anything is possible. We'll finally lose that weight, make more money, sell that book...

And yet somewhere along the way we inevitably fall off the wagon, because LIFE HAPPENS.

I'm not going to tell you to moderate your goals or think realistically, because I really think it's important to dream big. Maybe you'll make it, maybe you won't, but you'll probably achieve something great anyway. Don't shortchange your dreams.

All I ask is that you stop and add one thing to your list. BE HAPPY. How you do that is up to you. Just remember to give yourself time to enjoy life's pleasures. A holiday, time with family...whatever refills your well and gives you joy. That's what I wish for you... Joy.

Happy New Year. Dream Big.
