Male on Monday: Michele Riondino

Harlequin Historical author and PHS Michelle Styles looks at the appeal of Michele Riondio, star of the Young Montalbano

Recently BBC Four has been showing the Young Montalbano in its Saturday night foreign crime slot. Having watched the original series which features a middle aged, bald dectective, it is quite a pleasant shock to have Michele Riondino grace the screen. Young. Slim. With a full head of hair and neatly trimmed bread plus a wonderfully sexy Italian voice.

If you are looking for inspiration for an Italian hero, you need really look no further. Did I mention his voice?

The Young Montalbano deals with how the police detective got his start and his girl friend before Livia as well how he meets Livia.  It is set in Sicily and the backdrops as well as the food are part of the viewing pleasure. Did I mention Riondino's voice? Or the way he looks at Livia?

Right  Riondino is an accomplished Italian actor. He was born 14 March 1979 in Taranto Italy. He recently appeared in the Italian Vogue in an article entitled Talent with Heart.  He went to acting school in Rome --Academy of Dramatic Arts Silvio D'Amico. He apparently does speak English.
He has appeared in a number of Italian films and tv shows.
there was no information about his private life...

This is the trailer for the Young Montalbano so you can see what I am talking about:
It is definately worth watching.

Michelle Styles writes warm, witty and intimate historical romance for Harlequin Historical in a wide range of time periods. Her debut novel  The Gladiator's Honour was set in ancient Rome so she has a soft spot for the Italian hero. Her most recent novel, Paying the Viking Price is set in England and has a Viking hero.
