Donna Alward is back for a Male on Monday that is full of eye candy - and superheroes.
One of my favourite shows to watch these days is ARROW. It’s surprisingly layered, has a terrific cast, and it’s on at 7 p.m. on a night when we rarely have an extra curricular activities. While my girls are old enough that they can watch most network tv, ARROW is surprisingly clean while still delivering action and great character development. We can sit and watch it as a family. It’s a rare treat.
It’s also chock full of eye candy.
Meet the star of the show – Stephen Amell, who I’m thrilled to say is Canadian. Amell plays Oliver Queen.
Born May 8, 1981, in Toronto, Canada, actor Stephen Amell got his big break in 2004 when he played a spinning instructor in Showtime's Queer as Folk. He later appeared in episodes of CSI: Miami, The Vampire Diaries, 90210, Hung, New Girl and Private Practice. In May 2011, the actor portrayed Joran van der Sloot in the Lifetime movie Justice for Natalee Holloway. In 2012 he married Cassandra Jean.
Amell is incredibly fit for this show – and they’re not afraid to show it as there are frequent shirtless workout sessions happening in the cave. Check out this youtube vid if you don’t believe me. Holy Six Pack, Arrow.
Like any good superhero, Arrow has a sidekick. Meet Mr. Diggles. A ridiculous sounding name for a man who goes toe to toe with Oliver during training sessions. If I could have a hashtag for Diggles, it would be #digglesguns because he has got great arms and now and then wears a muscle shirt. I suspect he also has a six pack but maybe shouldn’t upstage the star, KWIM?
David Ramsey was born in Detroit, Michigan, USA and was the fourth of five children of Jeraldine and Nathaniel Ramsey. After performing in a church play, he started wanting to become an actor and after graduating from Mumford High School, he attended Wayne State University. He had his first role in Scared Stiff but his main career kicked off in 1995 when he started getting small roles in films and television series.
Ramsey is an accomplished martial artist. Holding a black belt in jeet kune do, he has also studied boxing and tae kwon do, and has trained in kickboxing under Benny "Jet" Urquidez.
And let’s not forget Tommy Merlyn…not quite as big on the physical side of things on the show but he sure is pretty to look at – and now that he’s stopped being a trust fund baby and started coming into his own, his character has become a lot more multi-dimensional.
Actor Colin Donnell was born in St. Louis and graduated from Indiana University. He first established himself in the world of theater, appearing in productions of Mamma Mia! and Wicked, as well as Jersey Boys in Broadway. Eventually, he made the transition to film and TV. His credits include Pan Am and L.A. Noire. In 2012, he landed his breakthrough role as Tommy Merlyn on the CW series Arrow.
There’s more to like about Arrow – I love the character of Felicity Smoak, for example. And the guest stars have been fab too – like James Callis who was just on a week ago (I totally had my nerd on for that episode!). Or Manu Bennet - aka Crixus from Spartacus. I’m going to be sad to see this season end…
