Male on Monday: David Wenham

PHS Editor Michelle Styles shares her current obession --Australian actor David Wenham

It happened like this -- I needed inspiration for my latest Viking and my daughter recommended Faramir from Lord of the Rings aka David Wenham who suited the sort of hero I had in mind perfectly.

Besides playing Faramir, Wenham has appeared in a number of films and tv series from 300 where he played the sole survivor to Oranges and Sunshine to Dripping in Chocolate where he played a dectective and the Killing Time . Born in Ausatralia in 1965, he graduated from New South Wales University. He played Diver Dan in the Australian tv series Sea Change. He was once voted the sexiest man in Australia as a result of the role.
He has two children by long time girlfirend Kate Agnew. He is the youngest of seven siblings. And was given the nickname of Daisy (shorten to Daze) by one of his sisters. he was apparently selected for his role as Faramir based on his *reemblance* to Sean Bean. They both joked about thier big noses, landing them the roles.

He has a lovely quality to his voice and is highly watchable.

Anyway  currently he works for me as he has a narrower build.

Michelle Styles writes warm, witty and intimate historical romance. Her latest His Unsuitable Viscountess will be published in August 2012. You can read more about her books on She is currently working on her next Viking.

  1. And don't forget he played the greasy Neil Fletcher in Australia. If you haven't watched it, do. It has three of my favourite things. It's got WWII, is part old-western, and Hugh Jackman. :-)

  2. PS I am a HUGE Faramir girl. Love the look he gives Eowyn at the end of Return of the King. Makes me melty.

  3. He makes a lovely naughty monk in Van Helsing which, whatever you think of the quality of the script, also has Hugh Jackman and the utterly adorable Richard Roxburgh.

  4. I need to watch Australia and Van Helsing again.
    Thanks for the suggestions.
