Must Watch Friday: Prince of Persia

Karen Anders reveals a movie full of Hero Inspiration.

"Prince Of Persia: The Sands Of Time" is an epic action-adventure about a rogue prince (Jake Gyllenhaal) who reluctantly joins forces with a mysterious princess (Gemma Arterton) in a race to safeguard an ancient dagger that can reverse time and allow its possessor to rule the world.

Technically this movie won’t be released until May 28, 2010, but the anticipation of it has gotten me all a flutter. Any romance author in her right mind would be looking to Dastan (the Prince of Persia’s name in the film) as inspiration for their own contemporary heroes (Just check out Jake without his shirt on.).
The film is loosely based on the video games which I must confess as a guilty pleasure. I didn’t play them, but watched as my daughter maneuvered the hunky prince up walls, along parapets, swinging across abysses and climbing up poles. The love story in the video games was well executed as well with cute dialogue and subtle flirting.

Jake’s buff body aside, this movie also promises to be a romance between him and a tough, kick-ass heroine. There’s nothing more satisfying then seeing a tough, courageous hero find his match.
That is after all what I strive for in my novels. In particular, my current release Undercover Lovers: Deliciously Dangerous brings together the “villain” of the two previous stories in this trilogy with a tough as nails heroine who intends to bring him in dead or alive—at least after she’s had her wicked way with him. So enjoy this eye candy and put Prince of Persia on your must watch list for May. And, if you’re so inclined, check out the video games, too. There’s a reason this character was chosen as a swashbuckling hero of Disney’s latest franchise in the making.

Deliciously Dangerous is the culmination of Karen’s Undercover Lovers trilogy – Up Close and Dangerously Sexy and Dangerous Curves. She has just contracted Grace Under Fire with Silhouette Romantic Suspense that will be out some time in Spring 2011. Don’t miss it. You can always check out her upcoming releases and news at
