Writer's Wednesday - Celebrate St. Patrick's Day Category Style!

Wine comes in at the mouth
And love comes in at the eye;
That's all we shall know for truth
Before we grow old and die.
I lift the glass to my mouth,
I look at you, and I sigh.

William Butler Yeats - A Drinking Song

Today is St. Patrick's Day and all around the world people are celebrating with the Irish.  Green beer, corned beef and cabbage, wearing shamrocks and looking for leprechauns after one too many pints.

But when I think of the Irish, I think of open doors, friendly faces, unstoppable laughter and passion in whatever they do.  And I think of great storytellers.  Oscar Wilde. William ButlerYeats.  George Bernard Shaw.  Modern-day authors Maeve Binchy, Marian Keyes and Cecilia Ahearn have put Ireland on the popular fiction map.

But today the PHS wants to salute three of its own:  Category Romance authors who bring their own special style to the genre.  There's a reason why Ireland is seen by the world as a romantic place...mysterious history, stunning landscape, and an Irishman with a twinkle in his eye doesn't go amiss either.  And these authors really know how to deliver a romantic fantasy, leaving you with a smile on your face and a tear in your eye!

So a special Happy St. Patrick's Day to Abby Green, Trish Wylie and Lynne Graham!  Thank you for the wonderful stories, and here's to many more!

May you have warm words on a cold evening, a full moon on a dark night, and a smooth road all the way to your door.

Donna's newest release is HER LONE COWBOY, out now from Harlequin Romance.

  1. Happy St Paddy's Day, Donn a - and to Abby, Trish and Lynne. It's really appropriate that Maeve Binchy was awarded a Lifetime's Achievement Award at the RNA Awards Lunch yesterday - even more cause to celebrate St Patrick's Day and Irish writers!

  2. I second that - Bravo to the Irish ladies of romance!
