Male on Monday :: Shia Labeouf

Ally Blake's latest inductee into the Pink Heart Hero Hall of Fame, is a new kid on the blcok. No, not from the old band that has now become a new band again, but... Okay. Back on track. She brings you Steven Spielberg's protegee, a true cutey patoottee, and one hell of an actor...

Shia Lebeouf. Shia rhymes with "hiya" and his surname is pronounced "la-buff".

Shia Saide LaBeouf was born June 11, 1986, in Los Angeles, California. He's young. But not too young right? A few years under the belt. He's loved and lost. He's made mistakes and learned. He's officially one of the 25 hottest stars under 25 so we can forgive him for that as he'll only get older ;). And as the years go by he's only wearing better and better.

He's an only child, his father was a clown who spent time in France studying commedia dell'arte while his mother was a ballet dancer. Did anyone catch his interview on Ellen where he talked about being dressed up as a clown at four selling hotdogs by the beach? Hilarious!

He first wanted to be an actor when he met a kid who worked on Dr Quinn Medicine Woman. Said kid had the coolest clothes, the best surfboard and shoes that lit up when he walked. Shia decided then and there he had to get into show biz!

He found an agent in the yellow pages when he was a pre-teen, gave the woman a call, pretended to be his own manager by dropping his voice and putting on an English accent! She thought he had gumption, called him in, signed him up and she's still his agent today!

At the age of 16 he won a Daytime Emmy for his performance in the Disney Channel series "Even Stevens" .

I first saw him in I, Robot and for such a tiny part - he was in it for lioke two scenes with as many lines - my hubby and I came out of the movie both saying, 'Who was that kid? Wasn't the kid great?' We knew then he'd make something of himself.

The world got to know him better in Transformers. A fab fun holiday movie that he turned into something great. The special FX in that movie are pristine, but his performance makes it warm, funny, charming, and greater than it was.

In Bobby he was hilarious! Goofy, cute, a scene strealer as always.

He's Indiana Jones's son, Mutt Williams, a leather wearing motorbike riding, brill cream loving 50s hunk. Is there a cooler role out there in Hollywoodland today?

And led the recent Eagle Eye to the number one spot at the Us box office.

  • Dave Letterman once asked him how his name came about. His answer? "Shia" is Hebrew for Praise God and his last name "LaBeouf" is French for Beef, so his name means "Praise God for Beef." Funny!
  • A recent car accident in which a guy ran a red light and smashed into the side of his car left him with no use of the middle fingers of his left hand. Future surgeries are still in place to hopefully rectify that.
  • He once said: "Talent is to actors what luck is to card players. It's not really anything, it's just a fictitious word that people have created and labeled things. Talent is sort of like luck."
If so, I reckon Shia LaBeouf is one lucky guy!

This month Ally has TWO, yes TWO books out in the UK!!

HIRED: THE BOSS'S BRIDE is a Romance, and is also out in North America right now. A NIGHT WITH THE SOCIETY PLAYBOY is a Modern Heat which will hit US shores in November.

And if anyone else has a beautiful blank weekend ahead, she hopes they might get to enjoy lying back and reading one of those!

Check out more news behind the books at her website and her blog.

  1. Alright, I admit I'd have to be about 30 years younger to truly appreciate all Shia LaBeouf has to offer, but I thought he was hilarious in Indiana Jones 4 and anyone who can dress like Marlon Brando in the Wild One and make me laugh at the same time has definitely got my attention. Good pick Ally.
