Thursday Talk Time :: Support a cause...any cause

October is full of causes to support and things to do to show your champoinships of all things worthwhile, and worth changing. Here at the Pink Heart Society, we're focusing on Breast Cancer Awareness, but did you know October is...

  • Domestic Violence Awareness Month. All women deserve to live with dignity and security in their own homes. Domestic violence isn't something that is easy to address in category romance because it is so phsychologically complex to understand. It's more often seen as a reflection, as the phoenix rising from the devestation an becoming a stronger person capable of making a better life.

  • Lupus Awareness Month. Lupus strikes down people in their prime, largely women between 15 and 45. Our friends, our sisters, our readers. Being aware of the disease can do wonders, as can attending one of the many fundraising events held this month.

  • National Book Month. Celebrate by doing what you do best...enjoy a book! In fact...I challenge you to read something you normally wouldn't. If you're a Presents lover, pick up a NEXT. Love Romance, try an Intrigue. Step outside the book covers.

  • National Depression Awareness Month. Depression is a treatable medical illness that millions suffer from. There is no medal for suffering in silence and there is nothing you are doing wrong if you feel this way. If you, or someone close to you, is struggling with feeling down, take advantage of National Depression Screening Day and learn whether depression is affecting you and how to deal with it.

And in honor of National Sarcastic Awarness Month, I feel the need to mention it is also National Roller Skating Month, National Pajama Month, and National Cookie Month.

Jenna is hard at work on her next title for Mills & Boon Modern Extra. In the meantime, check out her website, blog, or reading group, We Call It Research. She's proud to be a contributor to Dreams & Desires, an anthology by the best in the romance community where 100% of the proceeds are donated to preventing Domestic Violence.

  1. National Sarcastic Awareness Month? That is FABULOUS. I'm gonna have to remember that one. LOL!

(Have you ever read Kristin Gore's SAMMY'S HILL or the sequel SAMMY'S HOUSE? The character celebrates all the random little made-up holidays. It's pretty funny.)
